Okay, so I am here in Brazil where it does not even feel like December because I am in shorts and a tank top. Yeah, yeah, I hear you all even now, poor thing, just suffering while we freeze here in the northern hemisphere. It is just odd but you would think with having been here the past 3 years I would be used to it by now. I need to get used to it since I know I am called to live here when it is God’s time to allow that. ;)
So anyway, here is the update. Sorry no more photos to post. My hands are busy holding those of my beloved so I have not been taking any.
I am taking in some sun but not too much so as to get sun poisoning to which I am prone. I get to see my beloved each day and I love him more and more each day. I am dreading my return to the States because I will be separated from him but I will enjoy seeing and hearing from you guys again.
Last Saturday my beloved and I were part of a wedding party here at the church. I had to get a whole new outfit for the occasion. (Darn the luck. ;p) They dress to the nines here for such occasions and I had packed no such clothes. We looked so cute together walking down the isle to the front of the church. Wedding are a bit different here, there are couples that stand up for you as the wedding party instead of bridesmaids and groomsmen. I like it a bit better. It was very hot even with the fans going. I cannot imagine being the bride with all the heat. It was a great ceremony and it was an honor to be part. It did lead to thoughts about my future nuptials and how those will go. That is for an entirely other post.
Last night we (mom, dad, Fernanda, Walmir and I) went to the circus. There is a small one ring circus in town and it was really cute. I don’t think W had been to a circus before. It was cute to watch him watch the circus. It was “Circo do Stankowich”.
Tonight Fer and I will be going to the youth meeting. My beloved will be there also. The girls are to bring a sweet or salty thing and the guys get to bring drinks. What luck to be a man and not have to make something to bring. I made “pudim” a Brazilian dessert and Fernanda was nervous about getting something made with all her chores and not getting home from work early enough so I made a “torte de limao”, lemon torte for her to bring. We will have a gift exchange, “amigos segredos”, secret friend style. I drew Fernanda’s name.
I will be spending Christmas Eve with my beloved and his family. That is how they do Christmas here it is on Christmas Eve and you are with your family and have a large meal just after midnight. We will then go to church as usual on Sunday and Sunday afternoon, my beloved will join the family here for a more American style Christmas repast at lunch with an American style gift exchange.
Well, sorry nothing juicy or extremely important. That is for e-mails.
Love you all.
