Red Tape......GRRRRRRRRRRR

I know I worked for the government and I have had to work and at times be part of the bureaucratic system - red tape - so I know it is there and have worked through it before.

Well, Welcome to a WHOLE new level!!

Holy Cow, Brazil is its own reason that the rainforests are being torn down. The amount or paperwork and copies that are made is monstrous. I said I would update you on the adventure that is my attempt of getting registered to be able to get married. (Cause here you have to get registered at least 15 days before you are married, then you can get married. Gotta make sure you don't have a wife or husband out there you know.) Well, prior to yesterday, my mom and I had taken my paperwork to the Registro Civil to see if I had what was needed and the lady said yes, just get it translated and it is all good. Well, yesterday we (W, me, mom and our 2 witnesses) went to the Registro to register and of the probably 15 pieces of paper representing my birthcertificate and the letter of singleness, they only wanted 5 pieces. Then the lady there, who is a thorn, said we forgot to get those 5 sheets (representing 2 things) official registered. You know, she could have told me and mom that the other day cause we have had my paperwork ready from the translator for about 5 or 6 days. So we went to the other office to see about getting the paperwork registered. We had to leave the paperwork and it cost another 84 reais. Holy cow I am going to be a pauper by the time I can actually get married.

So, here I am, sitting here waiting on lunch being fixed by L and waiting for time to pass today. Mom and I did go into town today and buy some stuff and stop by a florist here to see what flowers will be in season in November. I also needed some anti-allergy cream cause the bugs think I am sweet meat. Itchy, itchy, itchy.

This afternoon we will try again. We will go pick up the registered paperwork at around 2:30 and go back to the Registro to see if W and I can get registered to be able to get married.

Your prayers and thoughts are felt and continually welcome. I love and miss you all.

Ate mais tarde.
